I am an Applied Scientist at Amazon Lab126, focusing on mobile computing, wireless sensing, edge intelligence, and their integration with Alexa's generative AI models. I specialize in sensing technologies with applications in smart home automation, through proximity-based interactions and real-time indoor localization.
As a founding member of the team developing Alexa’s spatial awareness capabilities, my work enables AI systems to interpret physical presence and spatial context, offering novel context-aware interactions in real-world applications.
I also serve as Vice-Chair and Contributor of the Proximity Ranging Tiger Team at the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), where I help bring spatial intelligence to the Matter ecosystem. Working with industry partners, we offer proximity detection, wireless ranging, and localization through standardized and interoperable methods across connected devices throughout the industry.
Prior to Amazon, I was a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Prof. Romit Roy Choudhury. My Thesis (2019) focused on problems in mobile and wearable computing, wireless sensing, user tracking, and indoor localization.
Previously, I received my Bachelors (2017) in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT-Delhi, where I worked on problems in mobile computing and collaborative sensing in online networks, advised by Prof. Vinayak Naik and Prof. Ponnurangam Kumaraguru.
Over the past decade, I have had the opportunity to have affiliations and collaborations with multiple research organizations, including Microsoft Research, IBM Research, Xerox Research, ETH-Zurich, Signals and Inference Research Group (SiNRG @ UIUC), PreCog Research Group (PreCog @ IIIT-Delhi), RSA Security, and Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing Group (MUC @ IIIT-Delhi).
Research interests: Mobile and Wearable Computing, Indoor Localization, Wireless and RF Sensing, Edge Computing, Applied AI, and Applications of Machine Learning in the context of Internet-of-Things (IoT).
